Colder weather, here we come. It’s time to welcome fall in all its glory with open arms and you don't even have to leave your house to do so. These indoor fall decor ideas will bring all that magic straight to your living room. Simple additions like festive wreaths, dining room decor, plaid pillows and blankets make a huge difference.

Display Gourds in Your Kitchen

There's nothing easier than filling a basket with some decorative gourds. Here, they turn an otherwise simplistic (but lovely!) kitchen into a festive, seasonal retreat.

Glam up Every Nook and Cranny

When paired with plaids and stripes, this reading nook's subtle pops of cinnamon give off major fall vibes. As temps start to drop, expect this to be the most popular indoor hangout spot of the season.

Go Mad for Plaid

Before your dinner party guests tuck in to a hearty harvest feast, give them the full seasonal treatment with all-plaid-everything table trimmings. Stock the spread with overlapping layers of mismatched plaid garlands, then reinforce the theme with matching patterned napkins. Take it one step further and top each porcelain plate with fabric-covered 3-inch embroidery hoops.

Create a Cocoon-Like Sleeping Space

Transform your bedroom into a super cozy nook. This Oregon homeowner piled plaid pillows, blankets, and a cushy headboard in her sleeping space (that's just 10 feet wide!).

Hang Window Wreaths

Dress up doors, windows, an empty nook, or bare wall with a festive wreath. Pieces featuring apples, cobs of corn, or autumnal flowers will breath some seasonal life into your space.

Mix Rustic and Autumn Accessories

If you already have rustic elements throughout your home, there's no reason you can't incorporate them into your fall decorations.

Experiment With Dark Candle Combos

Moody candle hues—like deep velvets, rich greens, or even jet blacks—will instantly modernize any room in the house, especially when you throw sleek gold candleholders into the mix. Don't be afraid to mix and match with fall colors too.

Don't Be Afraid of Red

Red comes in all forms on this porch: pillows, barn doors, florals, and a stripe in the throw rug. Together, they create a cozy, rustic aesthetic that stands out in fall, but could also last throughout all the seasons.
